AB and BC Natural Attractions info

Alberta
Columbia Ice Fields: The Columbia Ice field is located on the boundary of Banff and Jasper National Parks. It is one of the largest amounts of ice and snow south of the Arctic Circle. It covers an area of nearly 325 square kilometers.

Jasper National Park and Hot Springs: Jasper is the largest and most northern of Canadian rocky mountain national parks. It is part of a wonderful World Heritage Site. It consists of delicate and carefully protected areas.

Rocky Mountains: The Rocky Mountains are a broad mountain range with plenty of attractions. The Rockies have many ski hills and plenty of white powdery snow.

Banff National Park and Hot Springs: Banff National Park is one of Canada's oldest and most famous national parks. Each year, many people come to Banff to see the beautiful waters of Lake Louise, walk among the flower-filled Sunshine Meadows, and drive beneath the jagged peaks near the Ice fields.

Writing on Stone (hoodoos): The hoodoos are a great place to see the bizarre sandstone formations on the North American Plain. The Hoodoos attract many people and is a great place to see the wonder of nature.

Franks Slide: Many people are attracted to the devastation of the town of Frank in the early morning hours of April 29, 1903. Ever since that mountain fell people have come to stare in wonder and horror of the events that took place.

Red Rock Canyon: The drive to Red Rock Canyon thrives with colorful roadside wildflowers and views of hanging valleys, alpine meadows, and jagged mountain peaks. And when arriving at the Canyon, many visitors remark on the striking colors of the bedrock layers.

Waterton National Park: Is the Perfect place to view spectacular scenery, and wildlife while enjoying outstanding recreational opportunities. Discover nature at its best, all year round. In this breathtaking part of the world, the majestic Rocky Mountains rise suddenly out of the rolling prairies.

Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump: Head smashed in buffalo jump is known to many people as a remarkable testimonial of prehistoric life. It was a place where a custom practiced by Native American people of the plains for nearly 6000 years.

Drumheller/ Hoodoos: There aren’t many places like Drumheller, which offers visitors a combination of spectacular scenery and interesting things to do. It is truly a magnificent place to see.
British Columbia

Rocky Mountains: The Rocky Mountains are a broad mountain range bordering Alberta and British Columbia that was plenty of attractions. The Rockies have many ski hills and plenty of white powdery snow.

Okanagan Valley: Famous for its orchards, vineyards and wildly varied landscape. Where else could you ski, play a round of golf, horseback ride, take a tour of a historic site and visit a winery all in one day.

Balance Rock: Another one of the Queen Charlottes' spiritual wonders is Balance Rock. A large bolder left behind from the glacial retreat. Many decades later it still sits perfectly suspended on another rock's pointed head, guarding the shores of Skidegate, Graham Island.

Fairmont Hot Springs: A terrific cedar ski chalet, often described as the nicest in the Canadian Rockies; spectacular views of the jagged Rocky Mountain peaks; warm, friendly service, and plenty of family ski programs on professionally groomed snow, are just some of the reasons that families return to Fairmont Hot Springs Resort year after year.

Mount Revelstoke National Park: Few places on earth offer such geographically diverse and naturally preserved outdoor experiences - all within the borders of one great province. Similar in its geographical features to Glacier National Park, Mount Revelstoke National Park is extremely beautiful, with a mile-high rolling alpine plateau and spectacular views of the Monashee and Selkirk Mountains.

Gwaii Haanas National Park: They lie on the edge of the province’s collective memory like a dream scarce remembered; mythical and elusive, full of meaning and great beauty, yet incomprehensible to the waking mind. Impossible not to marvel at, and revel in, these are the Queen Charlotte Islands of British Columbia, arguably one of the most beautiful and diverse landscapes in the world. Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve and Haida Heritage Site are a remote collection of 138 islands in the southern part of the Queen Charlotte Islands (Haida Gwaii).

Gulf Island National Park Reserve: The Gulf Islands National Park protects a representative portion of the Southern Gulf Islands, a landscape of rocky headlands, forested hills and shorelines studded with colorful tide pools. It was officially established on May 9, 2003. You will find vibrant island communities that offer a full range of tourist amenities on Mayne, Saturna and the Penders. Inside the park facilities are limited. Most campsites and trails are located in the former provincial parks now included in the national park.

Atlin Provincial Park: This place leaves people speechless!Atlin Provincial Park surrounds the southern third of Atlin Lake, the largest natural lake in the BC. The remoteness of the park, combined with the varied topography, offers exceptional outdoor holiday opportunities - perfect for explorers.

Bull Canyon Provincial Park: Bull Canyon is a small campground along Highway 20, just west of Alexis Creek. Located in a beautiful canyon, with the glacier blue Chilcotin River flowing past the campground it offers a short walking trail beside the river, and excellent fishing lakes, bird watching and wildlife viewing opportunities nearby. People can view shallow caves in Bull Canyon Mountain on the Chilcotin River Interpretive Trail. It is a good base to explore the Chilcotin.

Liard River Hot Springs/ Provincial Park: Liard River Hot Springs Provincial Park contains one of Canada's largest natural hot springs systems. The springs create an unusually warm microclimate. Fourteen species of orchids are found here, as are carnivorous plants such as sundew, butterwort and aquatic bladderwort.
